Piling Rig - Working calculations for India

A piling rig is a piece of equipment, used on a job site to execute holes of different diameters at different depths, in the ground. The resulting boards are filled with concrete and silt to serve as foundation assemblies for any structures and buildings. The rig can be used on dry or wet soil, rock base, sandy soil, and silty clay. It can be equipped with long screw drill, vibratory hammer, and other advanced equipment to perform many functions. Thus, the machine is easy and comfortable to use and control. The rigs can be categorised in small, medium, and large sized, changing the drilling diameter and depth with each size of the rig.

Here are a few manufacturers of piling rigs :

Factors considered for calculating rentals of piling rig w.r.t six months project.

  1. MANUFACTURED YEAR- Because of the difference in technology and the need for less maintenance, the newly manufactured machines are high in demand.

  2. TRANSPORTATION CHARGES- While it is challenging to transport rig from one place to another, so rigs available near to the project site are high in demand.

  3. SOIL STRATA- Chances of wear and tear for rock surface piling is very high and time-consuming. Therefore, the rentals are also dependent on the soil strata of the project site.

  4. WORKING HOURS- Per day working hours or monthly working hours are considered while renting a piling rig. With more number of working hours, one has to pay the more rental cost.

  5. AVAILABILITY- While the availability of the equipment is the first factor to consider since no other factor will matter if the machine is not available. Thus, it refers to the vast theory of demand and supply of a piece of equipment.

Look at the example calculation rental of a piling rig for six months :

Calculating Rentals of piling rig for 6 months.

There is no standard formula, but the underlying guideline is:

Rental Rate     =     (Total Cost of Ownership) / (Expected Rental Lifetime)  * Profit %

                        = (5,50,00,000/10)*200%

                       =  1,10,00,000 per year

For 1 month     =     1,10,00,000/12

                        =  Rs.9,16,666.66 per month

For 6 month      =     9,16,666.66*6

                        =  Rs. 54,99,999.99

TCO includes purchase price, maintenance and organizational overheads.
