A 12% growth rate in 2020, as reported by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), poses to be a positive signal for the coming years. However, a more interesting result indicated through our survey was that a wide majority (almost 55% of respondents) have their excavators rented instead of owning them.  

Of excavators, crawler excavators prove to be the most commonly used among the Indian construction industry. For the year 2018, it is estimated that a majority (68%) of units sold account to be crawler excavators and backhoe loaders. Its ability to stay highly stable across uneven terrains during digging activities and an overall lower cost makes it a preferred choice for rental companies over other types. Our survey reported a similar trend with crawler excavators being the most commonly reported (35%) followed by backhoe excavators (28%). 

The equipment rental market in India is transforming with the introduction of advanced technologies which are taking the industry for a stride.
