With the heavy construction equipment comes a hefty cost of maintaining them and I realised this after investing a massive amount in buying one of them. Back in the days, it was a huge mistake as I had blocked my money in a one-time project. However, the investment was not a complete waste, I now realise. Being a contractor, I laid my hands on a huge contract of getting a 30-storey building constructed in a month’s time. However, due to heavy demand for the needed equipment, I couldn’t afford to lose the contract. Hence, I bought the machine for the construction process.
That was the most challenging project of my life, because of the time-bound, and with the equipment, crisis to face as a cherry on the top. While I didn’t let the hardships hinder my growth, I purchased the machine and worked twice as hard as I could with the labours. As the project was coming to an end, I thought to myself that the machine would be used for other projects too, but I was wrong. My machine stood in the garage aimlessly, only increasing the monthly cost of maintenance. While many projects came my way, I didn’t get a chance to use the machine at all. The idle machine was giving me nothing in return for occupying a huge space in my garage, so I asked my contractor friends to take it on lease from me, whenever needed. But they never needed the equipment, because of the new and technical machines in the market for them to take on lease and complete their projects.
While I tried to return the machine, the resale value was not worth it. I thought to myself that it would be better to keep the dying machine in my garage than to settle for too less resale value. Even though the maintenance, insurance, parking, and operator cost was cutting my income short, I didn’t know what to do with the unemployed machine.
After a long two years, my son came to my rescue with the online equipment rental business as my saviour for the cost-cutting of this construction machine. While the digital market has come a long way regarding business, I found an online registered company which worked as a middleman for the client and me. Registering with that online business was by far the best thing as my equipment started to bring money to me. There was umpteen number of queries for my machine and countless requests to get it on the lease, for long-term projects and short term projects. Due to the online market, I had no worries to find contractors for my machine, since the traditional way of finding a contractor has a limited reach, making it difficult to get work orders.
Thence, the cost of maintenance, insurance, operator, etc. was being contemplated with the online equipment rental business.
