Crawler Cranes
Crawler cranes have been designed for operating on soft muddy area where wheels can’t operate. This crane has a broad base that enables it to work effectively on soft soils. The lifting capacity may vary from 40 tons to 3500 tons. This is used in the initial stage of constructions when operating other cranes becomes arduous on soggy grounds.
Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are used to lift heavy objects such as shipping containers and tractor-trailers. As the name suggests these cranes use hydraulic system instead of electrical motor. These cranes are featured with a telescoping boom, which allows an operator to reach objects even from a greater distance because the movable arm can extend out beyond the fix length. Unlike other cranes, hydraulic cranes are not stationary.
Mobile Cranes
Mobile cranes are the most basic types of cranes. These cranes consist of a steel truss, usually mounted on a wheeled vehicle. With mobile cranes, it could be difficult to hoist material. This is the footprint that enables an operator to decide the quantity of objects to be lifted by a mobile crane.
Overhead Cranes
Overhead cranes are also known as suspended cranes. These cranes are potential to lift heavy objects, and they are normally used in factories. Overhead cranes can work two-three times faster than other cranes. These cranes are used in those industries where workers deal with corrosive materials. Workers use this crane to handle heavy objects in a smooth and controlled manner avoiding repetitive risks of injuries.
Rough Terrain Cranes
Rough terrain cranes are used in off-road construction work where normal wheels can’t operate. These cranes are mounted on four rubber tyres along with outriggers that help in stability. These cranes consist of single engine that is used for both undercarriage and crane.
Telescopic Cranes
Telescopic cranes consist of large booms that contain a number of tubes, fitting one inside the other. These heavy cranes are basically used in ports. Telescopic cranes are featured with height adjustment tools that make hauling and transportation of material easier.
Tower Cranes
Tower cranes are fixed on grounds that are widely used for construction of tall buildings. These cranes are used while forming tall buildings. It renders the best combination of height and lifting. These cranes can work at 1000 metres height. To avoid swaying, a tower crane should be connected to a building.
Truck Mounted Cranes
Truck mounted cranes also have one engine used for undercarriage as well as crane. These cranes are mounted on rubber tyre trucks using outriggers for maintaining stability while they are up and running. It can run on highways. They can rotate up to 180 degrees. However, some are available with 360 rotation point, but they are exorbitant.
